Friends,
Please allow me to thank you for your support of my campaign for circuit court judge. I especially want to thank those of you who took the time to pass my petitions, walk with me in parades (we did 4 this summer), and/or attend our fundraisers. I apologize for not being able to personally call each and every one of my "Friends4Fred," and hesitate to mention anyone by name lest I offend someone by inadvertently leaving their name out. However, you know who you are, and more importantly, I know who you are, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We worked very hard for the past 6 months, attending dozens of committeemen's meetings across the county, brunches, fundraisers, chamber of commerce lunches and other civic events. I am gratified by the support I have received from our fellow committeemen and from other elected officials. However, in the interest of party unity, and to avoid a contested judicial race, I am suspending my campaign activities and withdrawing as a candidate for the 2010 election. We have the finest judiciary in the State of Illinois. I have no ax to grind with any of the other candidates, all of whom are well qualified and will do an excellent job. I will keep my campaign committee open and will be a candidate for the next circuit court vacancy that is likely to occur sometime next year. In the meantime, I will continue to work in the trenches to insure the success of our Republican candidates at the federal, state and local level. Thank you.

“Over the years, I have worn many hats. In my role as an attorney for almost a quarter of a century, I have been a litigator, arbitrator, mediator, prosecutor and administrative law judge for two different state agencies… It is with great humility that at this time I “throw my hat in the ring” as a candidate for Circuit Court Judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit, DuPage County, Illinois.” -Fred Spitzzeri
Judicial Philosophy
I believe that the laws should be strictly construed, as written. Under our system of government, it is up to the legislature to draft legislation, the executive branch to sign off on it and the judicial branch to apply it. |
